Horse Retirement Plan
Media Thoroughbred Group is proud to be the first horse racing partnership in the country to offer a retirement plan for each horse. Once the actual racing career is over, many horses become broodmares, stallions, pleasure horses, or show horses. We want to make sure that we not only find safe and happy "second careers" for our horses, but also that they are provided for in the twilight years. Money is set aside quarterly, based on the number of partners and length of racing career, and can ultimately be used to transport the horse to a retirement facility and help pay for his/her care once the horse is no longer active in any of the roles mentioned above. It's a "401K" for horses!
The need for a retirement plan was first discussed with Michael Blowen, founder of Old Friends Farm. Michael's work is such an asset to the racing industry and we support him wholeheartedly.
